Lion Dance Props

There are quite a few props involved in a lion dance performance.

These props include:

Drum
The Drum is an essential part of the lion dance. The drum in the lion dance acts to create lif ein a performance and is a source of synchronisation between the lion and the cymbals and gong. In a performance, the drum is often used to direct the lion dancers in their actions.



Cymbals
The cymbals in a lion dance serves to create a lively atmosphere during the performance.


Lion Head
The Lion Head is the equipment used in a performance by 2 performers to mimick the actions of the lion. Under the lion head the 2 performers control the head and the back of a lion and through coordination act as one lion performing the sequence or stunts in a performance.



Gong
The gong is like the cymbal, an equipment used in a performance to create a lively atmosphere. It is played by one player following the beats of the drum and the sounds created by the gong can be varied depending on the method by which it is hit.
